The Harlem Park Three · Exonerated in 2019
Alfred Chestnut
Alfred Chestnut was sixteen when he, Andrew Stewart, and Ransom Watkins were arrested after the 1983 killing of their friend, fourteen-year-old DeWitt Duckett, at Baltimore’s Harlem Park Junior High School. The three teenagers maintained their innocence. Convicted in 1984, each spent 36 years in prison. Their experience became known as the case of the Harlem Park Three. A joint reinvestigation by the Baltimore City State’s Attorney’s Conviction Integrity Unit and innocence advocates established that the three men did not commit the crime. Four witnesses recanted their testimony, saying they had been pressured to change their accounts. On November 25, 2019, their convictions were vacated and all charges dismissed. In this conversation with Matt Rhine, Alfred describes his childhood in Baltimore, the earliest questioning, and the persistence it took to keep seeking legal help. He speaks about the witnesses as children who were also caught in the case, about being treated without dignity in prison, and about ordinary ways he tried to help others. Exoneration did not give back those decades or erase their effects. Alfred talks about returning home, the unexpected ways trauma can surface, and the family and young daughter he was building a future for at the time of this conversation. His story is not only about what was taken from him; it is also about his agency, his care for others, and the life he was beginning to rebuild.
Amanda Rahemanji is a Sales Leader with Tom James of Baltimore. Her LinkedIn profile lists Chairman’s Club (October 2021) and President’s Executive Club (January 2020) among her honors. She makes custom clothing feel personal rather than formal for its own sake. In this 2024 conversation, Amanda starts with how a client actually lives, what is already in the closet, and what feels comfortable to spend—then brings fabric and clothing options to a home or office appointment.
Ayaz Rahemanji leads one of First Home Mortgage’s largest, top-producing branches and serves on its Board of Directors. His lender reports more than $1.5 billion in closed transactions and honors him with Leaders Club and Elite 8 recognition. Ayaz works with his team to help buyers understand their financing choices, with an emphasis on clear conversations rather than just an approval number. In this interview, Matt Rhine asks what happens when a buyer is approved for more than they want to spend. Ayaz breaks down written loan estimates, cash needed at closing, and ways to think through buying before selling or refinancing. Their conversation gives homebuyers better questions to bring to a licensed lender.

Charlie returns at the end with an honest review of the experience—and a promise to come back.

In their August 2025 conversation, Matt highlights Craig’s $24 million in combined production during the preceding 12 months. Craig brings that persistence, practical mentorship and a service-first approach to helping Maryland buyers make confident decisions, prepare strong offers and navigate the path to closing. She and her husband bought their first home in Rogers Forge, where neighbors and family life helped make Maryland feel like home. When Matt caught up with her in 2025, that home had sold and her family was preparing to return to Georgia. Emily was also building a wellness and beauty business and rethinking how work fit around motherhood. She talks candidly about late meetings, accepting help, and making a new start before every detail is settled.

Jake Bowling owns White Oak Home Services. A Baltimore-area native and Maryland home inspector, he brings years of hands-on experience with the systems and wear that can make a house more complicated than it looks. Rhine Landscaping and Rhine Pools · Sykesville, Maryland
Jay Rhine
Jay Rhine is the Founder & CEO of both Rhine Landscaping and Rhine Pools, based in Sykesville, Maryland. His story begins on the Rhine family’s Howard County dairy farm, in the family since 1923. After their father died, Jay took on farm operations at 19, working alongside his mother to keep it going. He began cutting grass in 1996 to help support the farm. In the recording, he remembers an old truck, a secondhand trailer, one mower, a blower and a weed whacker. Lawn care grew into landscape design and construction; with help from a mentor, Jay later added pools. Rhine Pools is the pool-focused division of the business. Jay describes a team handling the design, construction, landscaping and pool work while he meets homeowners to understand what they want from their space. His advice is practical: live with a new home for a while, invest in a thoughtful design, and build the plan in stages around what matters most.
Recorded in 2022 · Then with Primary Residential Mortgage
Jon Wald
Jon Wald is currently a branch manager with Main Street Home Loans in Timonium (NMLS 571973). For the very first episode of All Roads Lead to Real Estate, Matt invited Jon to tackle a question every buyer faces: what payment actually fits your life? Jon’s focus here is a payment that feels comfortable, not just a headline interest rate. This conversation with Matt Rhine was recorded in December 2022, when Jon was with Primary Residential Mortgage. Together they discuss what to ask before looking at homes, how Jon explained temporary buydowns at the time, and why the buyer’s own budget should come before a maximum qualification.

Matt brings his own older house into the conversation—and gets an answer that is not an automatic yes.

Matt Rhine

Megan Winkler, formerly Megan Rhine, is Matt’s sister and an educator. While still in school, she found that she enjoyed helping teachers and teaching math to students who needed extra support. She went on to teach fourth and fifth grades, then worked as a math resource teacher. At the time of this November 2023 conversation, she was teaching preschool. Megan is candid about the planning and energy the job takes—and about the creative problem-solving she still loves when she helps a child learn. Her perspective is warmly practical: give children room to try small tasks on their own, keep parents and teachers talking when a concern comes up, and notice the ways a classroom can help a child feel welcome. A parent once wrote to thank her for the culture in her preschool room. That simple note stayed with her.
Neil Roseman is a Maryland entrepreneur, private lender, and owner/operator of Block M Investments. He works with investors on non-owner-occupied homes, multifamily properties, and commercial real estate. He is also involved in Bitcoin mining—the intersection that shapes his conversation with Matt Rhine. In this 2025 interview, Matt describes Neil’s Bitcoin holdings as worth tens of millions of dollars, adding context to his views on mining, custody, and risk. A University of Michigan graduate, Neil also owns LeadProbe, a lead-paint inspection business serving Maryland and Washington, DC. He brings that local investor experience to a conversation about mining, custody, and the practical differences between Bitcoin and rental property.
Ricky Carruth began his real-estate career on Alabama’s Gulf Coast in 2002. After the 2008 housing crash, he returned to the business and rebuilt through consistent outreach and client relationships. In this interview, he reflects on that path and his later move from sales into coaching. His official biography reports a historical solo-production record of 100-plus deals a year beginning in 2014, and dates Zero to Diamond’s launch to 2017. He returned to teaching while supporting teacher coaches. He was drawn to elementary education by its energy and the chance to build reading skills early, before gaps become harder to address. He became assistant principal at Pleasant Plains Elementary, helping lead school improvement, before moving to Lutherville Laboratory.
