Why does Keelty stay focused on Maryland?

Steve explains that family members personally visit construction sites and want to stay close enough to check quality and look after customers.

More questions

How did the business begin?

Steve traces its start to James Keelty, an Irish stonemason who began building homes in Baltimore. The official builder history dates those first homes to 1904.

Read transcript →
Did Steve start at the top of the family business?

No. After an MBA at Loyola, he says he started in the field and worked across construction jobs to understand how good work should look.

What has changed in the way homes are built?

Steve points to improvements in windows, building technology and materials. These are his views in the 2024 conversation, not warranties or current product specifications.

Read transcript →
What does it take to get a new community underway?

Steve describes a team effort involving community groups, politicians and developers, with thought given to the place people will call home.

Read transcript →
Who can a homeowner call years after moving in?

Steve says the office tries to help homeowners find information or address issues, including locating old window-manufacturer records. He describes the company’s approach, not a new service guarantee.

Read transcript →
How does a builder decide what suits a piece of land?

Steve describes weighing density, market needs and lifestyle. His open-field example is a Perry Hall community—not a Woodbrook amenity.

Why give buyers a choice of owner-suite location?

In the original Woodbrook design discussion, Steve explains first-floor and upstairs owner-suite layouts. Today’s offered plans are Anneslie, Ellenham and Forge; confirm home-specific selections with Matt.
